Our "60MHz" Systems have been proven to link across sites where it is not possible for higher frequency's. They have racked up years of solid performance, where conventional UHF radios simply could not make the trip. Land occlusion, Power lines, Transformers and other obstacles which would usually make it near impossible for the higher UHF Frequencies to link across present fewer problems for the 60MHz Band.
Site Surveys throughout U.K. have proved the value of the lower frequencies for modem and telemetry use. Scotland is renowned for its high mountains and uneven landscape, out of 11 Links, 10 had very successful outcomes, Path lengths varied from 2 KM to 8.6 KM.
Amazingly the path of 8.6 KM staggered us with the results showing a signal strength of -60dBm running the power of the Radio, at only 500mw!
The continuing success of the Elpro radios operating in the VHF Low Band has pushed the development of our antennae, with a mono-pole underway to compliment the Dipole and Yagi already available.
This Radio Link had a path length of 2.75KM
with a 175 M Mountainous skirt directly in the path.
Signal -94 dBm, RSSI (noise) -114 dBm. 0 errors in 150,000 bits, 1 missed packet in 1500. A perfectly work able link was established, with a 20 dB S/N margin.
SCFD-60 and SCFY-60 Antenna
The SCFD-60 is a purpose designed centre fed dipole for industrial and infrastructure use. The choice of corrosion free materials, low noise design, and inclusion of balun components make it a stable, long life, and low cost of ownership antenna for use where best reliability really matters. It is designed to be used with the LP-60 lightning protection/ filter for optimum performance.
The SCFY-60 Yagi Antenna is a similar design to the SCFD-60 however with the addition of a rear reflector, we have a directional antenna rather than omni-directional, with this setup we have seen gains of up to 12dB point to point (6 dBi per antenna), with up to 16 dB front to rear noise rejection.
Perfect for longer radio links.

LP-60 Lightning Protection/Filter
The LP-60 provides a number of significant benefits when correctly used in a VHF band 1 radio system:-

Provides a safe discharge path for direct lightning strike.

Significantly reduces intensity of potentially harmful EMF due to local lightning strike.

Band-pass filtering function reduces out-of-band unwanted noise and high level signals.

Give DC and LF grounding , prevents static build-up.
The inclusion of the LP-60 results in a safer and much more robust radio system. Receiver performance is much enhanced by the reduction of large out of band signals which can degrade the performance of even the best radio circuitry. It is available in a number of frequency bands to optimise antenna system tuning.
The LP-60 has excellent filtering to help interference and background noise.

Elpro 455U - 60MHz
ELPRO multiple-mode wireless serial modems allow transparent communications between RS-232 and/or RS-485 serial host devices. The modem routes messages in either a broadcast mode (simultaneous transmission of same message) or a controlled mode—for example, specific unit addressing.
The 455U-D is a full-functionality RS-232/RS-485 modem, supporting addressed/broadcast modes and optimal path routing for Modbus® RTU, DF1 and DNP-3.
The 455U-D radio modem provides reliable radio modem operation with advanced communication control and diagnostics functions. Radio modems transmit serial data over a long distance via radio. The serial data is not changed - the output data is the same as the input data. Although the 455U-D is intended to be simple in its application, it also provides many sophisticated features, including Encryption, advanced repeating, routing and back-up battery charging.
